Tête-A-Tête With Jewellery Retailers And Manufacturers At GJF PMI, Pune
Meeting jewellery wholesalers, manufacturers and retailers alike, is an experience in itself. Their in-depth knowledge as to how a diamond or gemstone brings life once its set or the technicalities behind creating a piece of art always leaves me awestruck!
Thanks to the Gems and Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF), who hosts a show that brings together Preferred Manufacturers in India (PMI) and jewellery retailers at an esteemed platform where I had the privilege of visiting and meeting these at this unique B2B (business to business) show. Spending hours interacting with some of the most well known manufacturing houses in India, my experience was one filled with inspiring stories and lovely jewellery.
Through PMI, manufacturers get the opportunity to display their exquisite jewellery to wholesalers and retailers, making it one of the only exclusive trade shows across India.
Hosted this year starting from Pune at the JW Marriott, it was held from the 8th – 10th of January 2018. I was privy to new collections, current trends, new advancements in the field of jewellery and even an array of pieces that simply took me by surprise.
My eyes with delighted with an array of diamond and polki jewellery, couture jewellery, gold and antique jewellery and a few manufacturers who showcased temple jewellery. It was thoroughly enjoyable to spend quality time visiting each stall, participating in thoughtful conversations and just understanding jewellery from a different perspective.
What impressed me the most is that it gives the retailers a platform and a variety to view pieces at their own pace, gives appropriate privacy and is the right place to “gain a competitive edge” yet know exactly how and “where to position oneself” as said by Mr Nitin Kadam, GJF Director and Co-Convener of the PMI.
Hear From The Retailers…
Jewellers like Mahesh Notandas from Notandas Jewellers pointed out that “a lot of buying goes on at the PMI and it is a great way to do B2B business”. A show that brings companies together to connect and conduct business thereby meeting the needs of retailers, it tends to have a positive, cascading effect on
consumer purchases. Having a strong impact on gold, diamond and jadau jewellery, the PMI aims to fill every gap in the market and the city in which it is conducted.
Mr Asher O from Malabar Gold and Diamonds was keen to say, a lot of “ focussed purchases happen at the PMI, adding to the diverse portfolio of products” With companies like Kosha Fine Jewels, and Lotus Jewellery launching their new collection of light weight necklaces and Saubhagya bangles respectively; their directors could not be happier than displaying at a multi-layered platform like the PMI.
And that’s not all, with new technologies brought to the forefront of the PMI, Mr Shrikant Zaveri of TBZ was overwhelmed to find “new innovation and changes to the entire design aspect” of jewellery. A show that brought much insight and knowledge, it was also an exemplary platform to showcase jewellery for the retail segment. An exhibition that allows the visitor the privacy and time to prepare for the season, it is a platform I would highly recommend to be a part of, if its buying or maybe even selling in the B2B sector your looking at.
All Work And No Play…
After a long day at work, a glamorous and paparazzi filled evening becomes the highlight! Models dazzling in jewellery from the participating jewellers sizzled the ramp on fire. Being a jewellery enthusiast, I had stepped into the shoes of a jewellery stylist backstage to ensure that the jewellery looked great on the ramp. Now thats the boon of having formal training in jewellery and being a jewellery blogger and stylist.
GJF will soon be hosting Manthan on the 5-6th April 2018 in Mumbai.
