India’s Got Talent! Krishma S Jain, The Jewellery Designer To Watch For!

Gold Tiara And Gold Cuff Centered With A Watch Dial, Designed By Krishma S Jain Who Won The Third Place At XIFU International Gold Wedding Jewellery Design Competition Held In China
“The power of Social Media” does wonders! Not just professionally but personally too! LiveslessOrdinary Blog and I were virtually introduced to each other on Instagram/StylePrer as she dedicatedly followed my jewellery posts and we often would discuss jewellery designs, inspirations and my looks for various shoots 🙂 India International Jewellery Show 2017 was being held in Mumbai and we decided to meet there as she wanted to interview me for her blog. A petite, soft spoken, innocent girl, perfectly symbolizing the term ‘girl next door’ walked in to interview me. Something about her gave me strong positive vibes 🙂
At some point while she was interviewing me, she mentioned about her participating in a jewellery competition that was held in China and she being selected among the finalist! Curious to know more about her design and competition, it so happened that I landed up interviewing her hahahaha. On insisting and in all honesty, the moment I saw her design, I told her, “You are winning this” and we immediately crossed our fingers with a spark in our eyes!
I am talking about Krishma Jain, who stood third at the The Xifu International Gold Wedding Jewelry Design Competition. The competition received a total of 2017 entries from students and jewellery
designers across the globe. Krishma shared the honors with two other contestants – Chen Wenmei from Shenzhen, China; and Jiang Hao from Shanghai, China. The judging panel was an eclectic mix of academician Normal Cherry, artist – Ben Mori, jewellery designer – Stephen Webster, trend forecaster – Paola De Luca and Professor, doctoral advisor – XuXiang Tang.
Wheel Of Energy
In an email-interview with Krishma she mentioned that she was highly inspired by the energy chakras that exist within our bodies and life. Inspired by the seven chakras i.e the energy center of human body her design was titled ‘Wheel Of Energy’. Krishma is a regular practitioner of yoga which helps her to stay focused, calm and has enhanced her creativity. She attributes a lot of her design talent to her ability to follow certain spiritual practices that help her keep the energy flow going. In her own words, her design is a ‘perfect blend of body, mind and soul’.
The Design
Coming to the design, Krishma designed a two piece set. It has a gold tiara (and you know my obsession for Tiara’s 😉 ) and a gold bracelet with a hidden watch mechanism.  It might come across as just another jewellery that has been conceptualized, but the interesting bit is how she integrated her inspiration – flow of energy into this piece!
After an in-depth study of various cultures and their wedding traditions, she realised that almost every culture has a distinguished style of costume and style/preference  for jewellery.
When asked, what made her choose a Tiara and Cuff – “According to me a Tiara, has an universal appeal and is popular in Indian Christian weddings too. The cuff is for the woman of 21st century who wants to think beyond locking her wedding jewellery in the safe. The cuff is designed in a way that it could be worn for an occasion, cocktail or a friday evening.” quotes Krishma S Jain.
It took her almost 40 days right from conceptualising to manufacturing the final pieces.
To have a rhythmic flow of energy and a feeling of interconnectedness, energies should flow
harmoniously in our body. The design has infinite flow lines which symbolize energy frequencies that we
as living beings are constantly sending and receiving. Krishma’s aesthetic and design sense is deeply rooted in her spiritual faith which essentially talks about embracing our uniqueness at the same time understanding the oneness we share with all other human beings.
StylePrer feels,
Krishma’s personality and design sense reflect her spiritual beliefs. She comes across as a woman who is
rooted and sure footed about what she wants, in terms of her career aspirations. I still remember
meeting her at the IIJS where she arrived comfortable and confident in a shirt and bermudas. Krishma has all the makings of a great jewellery designer and it’s not just her design sense but how straight forward and sorted her thinking is, that makes me feel she is that one talent our country should watch out for!
