Bridal Jewelry Trends And Bridal Jewelry Must Haves Spotted At The Vogue Wedding Show 2017
The Vogue Wedding Show , India’s bridal and luxury exhibition, returned for its milestone fifth year. Hosted at The Taj Palace, New Delhi, the luxury event featured some of the most premium and personalized category leaders from the Indian wedding circuit.
It was my first time at the Vogue Wedding Show and I felt honoured to be invited by the Vogue team to cover the show. It was a wonderful journey where I came across some breath-taking and unusual jewelry. Through my blog I want to give you a peek into the latest in bridal, gemstone and men’s jewelry. This time around you will see me in conversation with the designers and hear them talk about the latest in vogue along with 5 jewelry must haves in a bridal trousseau.
Day 1 started with my first stop at ShriHari DiaGems by Vinay Gupta. What more could I ask for when the ace fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani helped me wear his stunning polki and ruby necklace set that he created with Vinay and emphasised that a big borla or head ornament should be a part of a bridal trousseau. Vinay firmly believes that kadas, chaand baalis and maang tikkas are an essential to complete the bridal look.
Tarang Arora, Creative Head – Amrapali felt that for brides, a choti, kamarband and anklet were not given enough importance in northern India unlike south India and should be a trend that one should look upto. For grooms, the look would be incomplete without a brooch / pins, kurta buttons and a sarpech.
Niharika Shekhawat, Creative Head – Sunita Shekhawat summed it up well when she said ‘Less is more’ whilst the jewelry should be layered well.
Bridal Jewelry Must Haves: A choker, long earrings, cocktail ring, head ornament and a nath.
Renu Oberoi, Founder – Renu Oberoi feels that the bridal trend of wearing jadav jewelry is now a passé. People will again get back to opting for bridal diamond necklaces.
Bridal Jewelry Must Haves: A pair of jhumkas, classic diamond necklace, an emerald or diamond ring, diamond / emerald / ruby studs and definitely a mangalsutra.
Kahini Parekh and Parthiv Mehta at Kantilal Chhotalal spoke about the trend of layered diamond necklaces where they believe functionality or jewelry being detached in many ways is something customers are opting for. This doesn’t limit the jewelry only for the wedding day but could also be worn with western outfits.
Bridal Jewelry Must Haves: Solitaire bangles, layered necklaces, long earrings, engagement ring.
Sachin Jain, President – Forevermark India believes that subtleness combined with class was coming back. He made an important observation that these days the bride and groom like to decide and choose their jewellery together, hence there is no longer a surprise element. Further he has observed an inclination towards mens jewelry by the Grooms.
Rohan Narang, Managing Director – Hazoorilal Legacy mentioned that smaller polki designs instead of bigger ones are in trend their latest collection is a combination with intricate keshi and basra pearls.
Bridal Jewelry Must Haves: Polki jadav necklace, Head ornaments – matha patti or maangtikka, passa, hathphool instead of a bangle and an engagement ring.
Ishu Datwani, Founder – Anmol Jewellers was of the view that diamond jewellery and uncut diamonds are much in vogue today.
Bridal Jewelry Must Haves: A diamond necklace set, a polki / uncut diamond necklace set, a head ornament or a passa and a bangle.
Anjali Bhimrajka, Founder Anjali Bhimrajka Fine Jewels believes that the bridal jewelry should be simple, classic and eclectic.
